Frequently Asked Questions
Is New Branches a nonprofit?
New Branches is a building partnership that has a 501(c)(25) tax-exempt status – an IRS designation that allows entities to hold the title to real property, such as land or buildings, on behalf of tax-exempt organizations.
All three congregational partners in New Branches have tax-exempt IRS status.
Are the churches combined or combining?
No. Each of the partner congregations retains their faith identity and worship practices.
Because we share many values and priorities, some ministry efforts and events may be organized and offered in partnership. For example, the three congregations developed a joint safe environment policy for children and youth.
How does New Branches plan to connect with the broader community?
We see the building as a home for our neighbors, too. We’ll share opportunities for community groups and others to use the beautiful and functional New Branches space.
